Recently had a lecture with Lesley Gulliver, the managing director of The Engine Room.

The Engine Room is an international design led branding company. They've won serval awards for their work since 2001.

She spoke about about branding being more than the logo and visual representation of a company and more about how the consumer feels. One of my lecturers Alan Summers said something similar when going through layout ideas. He said it's less about how the product looks and more about the customer experience. This is important to know and recognise when branding my own products. Some times I can get wrapped up on the aesthetics of how a design looks, instead of thinking outside the box and seeing how this will be represented to the customer.
